About

Dr. Thomas Nagel has many years of experience in the areas of financial market, corporate and general commercial law. He specializes in money laundering law, on which he has written his doctoral thesis and a large number of practice-relevant publications in specialist journals. He also works as a lecturer at the Swiss Distance-Learning University of Applied Sciences (FFHS) in the area of compliance and corporate governance.

He supports companies in the financial sector with regulatory issues in connection with licensing and enforcement proceedings before authorities and self-regulatory organizations, with the drafting of contracts and with strategic decisions. Thomas Nagel worked as a secondee in the legal department of a bank in Zurich. His clients therefore benefit from the fact that he knows their perspective and the challenges they face from personal experience.

Before joining Advoro, he worked for four years as a lawyer at Walder Wyss AG in Zurich. He gained further professional experience at the bilingual regional court of Bernese Jura-Seeland, in law firms in Bern, Zurich and St. Gallen and in the legal department of an auditing company in Zurich.

Thomas Nagel studied at the University of Bern (Bachelor 2012; Master 2014; Dr. iur. 2019 with summa cum laude) and at the Université de Nantes (Master 2012). He also holds two certificates from the University of St. Gallen in Finance (2022) and Sustainable Finance (2023).

Thomas Nagel works mainly in German and English and is fluent in French. He is registered with the Zurich Bar Registry and is authorized to conduct litigation throughout Switzerland.
